Blind Barrels Release XI: Legends of the Fall Sample B

Intro

Whiskey lovers, it’s time for another blind tasting adventure! Life may have delayed this pour, but good things come to those who wait—or at least that’s what I’m telling myself. My brother-in-law gifted me this Blind Barrels release, Legends of the Fall, for Christmas, and after letting Sample A warm me up, I’m finally ready to tackle Sample B. No spoilers yet—I like a little mystery with my bourbon. So, let’s dive in, sip by sip, and see what this one has in store!

Mystery Bourbon Review

Some folks say fall is the best season—cooler air, crunchy leaves, an excuse to wear flannel and pretend we’re all lumberjacks. But what if you could bottle up that cozy, golden-hour autumn feeling (or winter in my case) and pour it into a glass? That’s what I was hoping for when I cracked open this mystery bourbon from Blind Barrels Release 11, “Legends of the Fall.” Time to swirl, sniff, sip, and see if this one lives up to the seasonal hype.

Pour:

The color is a rich, deep amber—like a perfectly toasted marshmallow or the last sliver of sunset before the night takes over. Swirling it in my glass, the legs are slow and thick, lazily creeping down the sides like they’ve got nowhere else to be. A good sign, or at the very least, a fun excuse to stare at my glass and look sophisticated.

Nose:

Right away, I’m hit with a wave of caramel and brown sugar, like someone just cracked open a fresh bag of Werther’s Originals (you know, the kind your grandparents always had but never actually bought). There’s a toasted oak backbone that adds some depth, along with a little nuttiness—pecans, maybe? Definitely something warm and cozy, like the inside of a bakery right before the morning rush.

Then, just when I think I’ve got it all figured out, here comes the spice. A little cinnamon, a dash of nutmeg, maybe even some clove sneaking in like it just jumped off a pumpkin spice latte. It’s giving me major autumn vibes, and I’m not mad about it.

Sip:

First sip, and whoa—this one’s got layers. Up front, I get caramel and vanilla, all smooth and inviting like a warm hug from an old friend (or at least a bartender who remembers your order). Then things take a turn into richer territory, with dark fruit—dried cherries? Figs? Whatever it is, it’s working.

Just as I’m settling into the sweetness, here comes the spice parade. Black pepper, cinnamon, and a little ginger heat creep in, giving this pour some serious character. It’s not a “burn your face off” kind of spice, but it lets you know it’s there, hanging out just under the surface. A little bit of leather and oak round things out, adding a touch of maturity—like it spent some time in a fancy library before making its way to my glass.

Finish:

This one sticks around for the long haul. The oak lingers in a way that makes me think of a campfire just as the embers are dying down. The spice fades slowly, leaving behind dark chocolate and just a whisper of dried fruit, like a reminder of everything I just tasted. It’s warm, it’s satisfying, and it makes me want to go back for another sip immediately (purely for scientific purposes, of course).

Final Thoughts & The Reveal:

If fall had a flavor, this might be it. The balance between sweet, spice, and oak makes for a rich, layered experience—one that evolves as you sip. It’s a bourbon that doesn’t rush the conversation but keeps things interesting the whole way through. Whether you’re sipping this on a crisp evening or just pretending it’s sweater weather, it absolutely delivers. I liked this one better than Sample A.

And now for the big reveal… drum roll please … this bold, autumn-in-a-glass pour is none other than Kings County Distillery Straight Bourbon Whiskey!

With its rich profile and lingering warmth, it’s the kind of pour that makes you want to kick back, take your time, and just enjoy the moment. Well played, Blind Barrels. Well played.

Stay tuned—Sample C's review is coming your way soon!

Cheers to a dram good time! 🥃✨
