Wilderness Trail BIB
Hey, fellow spirits enthusiasts!
Today, we're diving into the depths of flavor with a bottle that promises to take your taste buds on a wild journey. I stumbled upon this bourbon by accident. During the height of bourbon hunting in the pandemic, I purchased some Blanton’s online, and the online store offered this bottle as a gift. WHY NOT?!
Here is a little bit of an overview of how Wilderness Trail started. Two passionate individuals, Shane Baker and Pat Heist, started as a rock band in the ‘90s and quickly realized they needed to pursue a different dream. Since 2006, Wilderness has been producing bourbon in the rolling hills of Danville, KY. Without further ado, welcome to the show Wilderness Trail Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon.
Crack open the bottle, and you're greeted with that satisfying pop that signals the beginning of a spirited adventure. The aroma? Imagine wandering through a lush forest with hints of vanilla, caramel, and a touch of spice wafting through the air. It's like Mother Nature decided to distill her essence into a bourbon – and we're here for it.
I like my bourbon neat; however, some go straight to the ice cubes. Wilderness Trail doesn't disappoint when it meets ice. The initial heat mellows into a warm embrace, revealing layers of flavor like a treasure map waiting to be explored. There's a sweet dance between the vanilla and oak, with a subtle caramel undertone – like a symphony in a bottle.
Let's talk about that "Bottled-in-Bond" label. It's like having a trusty guide on your bourbon journey. This stamp of approval ensures that the spirit comes from one distillation season and one distillery and is aged in a federally bonded warehouse for at least four years. It's the bourbon equivalent of having a compass in the wilderness – you know you're in good hands.
Now, what's an adventure without some good company and a campfire? Wilderness Trail is a versatile companion. Whether you're sipping it by the fire, sharing stories with friends, or pairing it with your favorite cigar, it holds its own. The warm finish lingers, much like the embers of a well-tended fire.
In the grand scheme of bourbon explorations, Wilderness Trail Bottled-in-Bond is like stumbling upon a hidden gem in the woods. It's bold, it's honest, and it's unapologetically flavorful. The kind of bourbon makes you want to trade in your compass for a rock glass and let the good times roll.
So, fellow bourbon adventurers, grab a bottle, gather 'round the metaphorical campfire, and embark on a Wilderness Trail expedition. Despite my low rating, your taste buds may thank you, and you might find a new favorite sip for your next spirited escapade. Cheers to the wild side of bourbon!
