TX Experimental Series: Rye Whiskey
Back in 2012, right before I stepped into military boots, my buddies and I shared a farewell shot of TX Blended Whiskey. Little did I know that this Texan tribute enjoyed among laughter and goodbyes, would ignite my whiskey passion. Fast forward, and not only did I discover I could snag this gem on base, but its impact deepened when they crafted custom bottle toppers from our dad's cowboy boots, a heartfelt nod to our heritage after his passing.
Fast forward to 2021, with a bottle of TX Experimental Series Straight Rye Whiskey in hand and a baby shower in the midst of covid—it was time. This wasn't any ordinary bottle; its amber stare promised an adventure, its elegance whispered of refined tastes, and the timing? Perfect for a celebration.
Diving into the sniff test, I was bracing for that rye kick but was instead greeted with a dessert-like concoction of vanilla and caramel, with less oak than typical and citrus notes joining the unexpected party. The first sip? A blindfolded leap into a flavor pool where rye spice led a dance, followed closely by a symphony of vanilla, caramel, and a fruity twist, all smoother than my wedding dance moves yet strikingly bold.

Still, TX is consistently upping the game with bottles like these that are only available at the distillery or, if you are lucky enough, on an auction site.
